About Me

My path so far...

Born in Brazil, raised in Portugal, educated in the USA and rooted in Canada, I can say my path has been a beautiful blend of cultures, opportunities and experiences.

My journey to becoming a psychotherapist started in 2005 when I decided to move from Portugal to Montana, USA for my undergraduate program in psychology, where I also had the opportunity to represent my university through tennis, traveling and competing across the United States. In 2008, after graduating with my Bachelors Degree, I continued my education pursuing a Master’s in Mental Health Counselling in New York, USA. To say the least, this was one of the greatest adjustments of my life, moving from the countryside to living in one of the biggest cities in the world, which I was very fortunate to experience. I graduated with my Masters Degree in 2011. Seeking more adventure, I then moved to North Carolina where I got my first official job as a licensed clinician. Many more opportunities came after that. I arrived in Collingwood, December 2016, and have been serving and enjoying this beautiful community ever since.

So far in my career, I have worked in crisis response, acute psychiatric facilities, community work, providing therapy in families's homes located in remote parts of the country where access to services were limited, and outpatient services. I have served both public and private settings.

I continually seek to educate myself and learn from experts in the fields of neuroscience, trauma, attachment and child development. I am also committed to my own healing journey, using the same modalities I offer my clients.

Life outside work...

I am a wife, and a mother. I love spending time in nature, or doing some kind of movement...either playing  tennis, going on hikes, dancing, doing yoga or pilates. I enjoy learning, reading, and having a cup of coffee each morning while reading "Journey to the Heart" (by Melody Beattie) - message of the day. You will always find crystals and oracle cards in my personal spaces. They bring me joy, hope and peace. And if I am not found in Canada, I am likely travelling somewhere in the world to experience new cultures and make new memories.
